Beachside Teen Treatment Center is a tranquil rehabilitation haven for adolescents struggling with addiction, substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders. This beautiful residential facility is based in Malibu, California, with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. At Hillcrest Adolescent Treatment Center, our mission is to provide healing resources for adolescents battling substance abuse with co-occurring mental health disorders. To be a good fit for the Program Assistant opportunity, you will have:

• A high school diploma or GED.
• 1+ year of experience in the social services field (group home, childcare, medical assistant, etc.). We may also consider candidates with college coursework in psychology, social science or similar.
• A genuine desire to work with adolescents.
• An understanding of counseling and other treatment procedures for mental health disorders with co-occurring substance abuse issues.
• Knowledge of regulations concerning mental health treatment.
• Working knowledge of substance abuse, mental health disorders, and treatment procedures for such illnesses.
• Good judgment, a positive attitude, dependability and confidentiality

You will provide rehabilitative support regarding the care of a co-occurring population, ensuring that clients and staff have what they need to follow the lead of the Clinical Director and Program Director. We're well organized and there is always someone to reach out to for support, should you need it. 

Each shift will include general daily activities (i.e., waking clients, providing hygiene baskets, monitoring from a distance, doing chores, ensuring meds are taken, etc.). Specifically, you may:

• Provide line-of-sight supervision to clients and skill-building, psycho-educational and/or support groups.
• Complete house-related chores as assigned.
• Strive to increase professional growth and effectiveness by completing all required training.
• Provide crisis intervention services when authorized and necessary.
• Maintain active participation with the clients at all times.
• Prepare and monitor medication administration then document all details in KIPU.
• Document clients’ daily activities, unusual behavior, and pertinent information in KIPU.
• Open communication with staff, therapist, and Program Director.
• Assist the Educational Director during designated school times, with education-related activities and monitoring of the client’s computer internet use.
• Encourage clients' participation in all daily activities and promote positive interactions among peers.
• Carry out other responsibilities as delegated.
