You are a Licensed Therapist registered with the California BBS, a vibrant leader, and an exceptional communicator. Beachside Teen Treatment Center is a tranquil, rehabilitation haven for adolescents struggling with addiction, substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders. Our beautiful residential facility is based in Malibu, California, with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. At Hillcrest Adolescent Treatment Center, our mission is to provide healing resources for adolescents battling substance abuse with co-occurring mental health disorders. Hillcrest’s rustic but elegant homestead is set in the lush foothills of Agoura Hills. This rural estate is both private and peaceful, making it an ideal enclave for rehabilitation and healing.

To be a good fit for the role of Lead Clinical Therapist, you will have:

Required Education & Experience:
  • Licensed (LMFT, LCSW) with California BBS.
  • Five years of working in a behavioral health treatment center environment.
  • A genuine desire to work with the adolescent population we serve.
  • Working knowledge of psychopathology, diagnostic assessments, addiction and related interventions.
  • Demonstrated understanding of addiction and psychiatric illness.
  • An acute understanding of counseling and other treatment procedures for mental health disorders with co-occurring substance abuse issues.
  • Knowledge of regulations concerning mental health treatment.
Preferred:
  • EMDR Certification.
  • At least 1 year of experience working in an Adolescent Residential Treatment Center.
  • Experience managing and/or mentoring subordinate staff.
In addition, you will have the following core competencies:
  • Computer proficiency (word processing, spreadsheets, calendar, slide presentations, Internet).
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation, organization and prioritization.
  • Ability to travel between assigned facilities via car.

As the Lead Clinical Therapist, you will oversee clinical operations by collaborating with the clinical staff to assess client needs. You will assist with and monitor the development and regular updates of treatment plans, and work closely with program directors to ensure that groups are facilitated on time and as scheduled.
 
Daily, you will oversee licensed therapists and manage the clinical treatment aspects of the organization's operations, splitting your time evenly between two sites serving adolescents. You will report to the Executive Director and collaborate closely with program directors to provide mentorship, support, and training to the Therapist team. This includes overseeing onboarding processes and promoting quality, cost-effective outcomes through effective communication and resource utilization. Your responsibilities will also include conducting family sessions with all admitted clients at least once per week and coordinating family communication related to clinical matters.

Other essential functions and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide quality care to clientele, ensuring safety and best practices related to family therapy.
  • Ensuring timely documentation is completed by program therapists; working with the Program Director to ensure the timely documentation of unlicensed group facilitators; daily, coordinating and signing off on group notes from unlicensed facilitators (within 24 hours).
  • Providing program services, including facilitating groups, as needed, to cover therapists' absences due to sick leave or vacation.
  • Organizing and conducting meetings, training programs, etc., as appropriate to the program development and maintenance needs of the organization.
  • Directly responsible for retaining clients who are determined to ATA. As Lead Therapist, you must be skilled in ATA blocking techniques, de-escalation techniques, crisis intervention, etc., and be willing to come on-site if needed to assist in retaining a client.
  • Facilitating (rotation) weekly multi-family sessions.
  • Consistently communicate and report client needs to Executive Director and Treatment team.
  • Interacting effectively with all clinical and non-clinical departments to coordinate client care.
  • Conducting crisis management/intervention as part of the treatment team.
  • Running clinical meetings and participating in a weekly admissions meeting as needed.
Additionally, all therapists are required to participate in an on-call rotation for hours outside of regular business hours to ensure continuity of client care.
