To be a good fit for the Certified Medical Assistant, opportunity, you will have:
  • Completed an accredited medical assistant program and a supervised healthcare externship. Quick question for you - click here
  • Possess Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or equivalent certifying agency.
  • Minimum of one year of prior experience in a medical assisting role with administrative duties or a similar healthcare position.
  • Familiarity with Medical Assisted Treatment.
  • A valid California driver’s license and the ability to pass and maintain a clean driving record check (MVR) in accordance with our company standards are required.

  • Preferred experience in a mental health treatment setting.
  • Knowledge of and experience with KIPU is advantageous.
  • Outstanding time management skills to balance patient care and complete required daily SOAP notes.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Reporting to the Executive Director, as a Certified Medical Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting client treatment and recovery through proficient and empathetic medical services, meticulous medication oversight, and effective records management.

Daily, you will be responsible for checking in with each client and doing a SOAP note. You will manage their medications, work with the pharmacy on medication deliveries, schedule lab work, and more. Specifically, you will:"
  • Complete daily SOAP note and ensure records are maintained in accordance with standards of facility and state regulations. 
  • Observe clients, charting and reporting changes in clients' conditions, such as adverse reactions to medication or treatment and taking any necessary action. 
  • ​Observe clients self-administering prescribed medication and document appropriately. 
  • Communicate with IMS physician and other outside physicians where outside referrals may be indicated. 
  • Work with physician and pharmacy to ensure medical/nursing/medication concerns are reported and problems resolved. 
  • Input Doctor's Orders and Medication Protocols in EMR.
  • Schedule clients' appointments with the psychiatrist, Dietician, EMDR therapist, etc., send the zoom link to the 3rd party and ensure the client is in the room ready for the appointment at the designated time. 
  • Provide training and supervision of clients to support non-clinical staff as it relates to detox and medication protocols. 
  • Measure and record clients' vital signs, such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration. 
  • Perform inventory check and maintenance of nursing supplies and OTC medication supplies. 
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and CARF standards. 
  • Fully understand and maintain policies & procedures regarding professional ethics, confidentiality, and healthy boundaries. 
  • Fully understand our medication management policy and infection control protocol.
